Evening update

Mom and I just returned from Community General after a very productive day. Dad is settled into his new room and is noticeably more comfortable with his surroundings.

I can't say enough good things about the staff: kind, knowledgable, attentive, the list goes on and on. The rehab area doesn't appear to be too crowded, so dad is receiving an amazing amount of support.

A highlight for the day was spending time at the dinner table together in the common room. This is the first time since the stroke that he's been allowed to get up, move location, sit in a chair and eat a meal at a proper table. He was noticeably happy with the new arrangement.

What else can I say?  Oh, he has been trying more and more to speak and write his thoughts. It's still frustrating for him, but I'm glad he keeps trying. I have also noticed him picking up and understanding our words more and more. Perhaps wishful thinking, but I'll stand by it for now.

I think that's all for the day.

Take care.
